Art is part of who I am. Art is what I like to see, and what I like to create.
The art fields I am the most interested in are Theatre and Literature. I think theatre is a wonderful way to tell a story
and I take a real pleasure being in a character’s shoes. On the other hand, Literature is like a game that consists
of finding how to say something using all the words’ beauty and turnings. These two fields are my studies as well as
my hobbies, and they represent a real challenge to me.

In brief, I went to high school at L’Assomption College, which is a private school located in the city
of L’Assomption, in the province of Quebec. Until the third year of high school, I was a Middle Years Program student,
an enriched program created in order to develop the students’ knowledge, broadmindedness and creativity. We had much
more work to do than the regular students and we had to give hours for community services. We went on a one-week trip to Edmonton
in order to improve our English. Although this was an interesting program, I chose at the end of the third grade not to continue
for two more years because I had no more spare time and really wanted a theatre course which was not offered to the MYP students.
In this theatre class, I discovered just how much I am at ease in this universe. Two years later, I entered Lionel-Groulx
College which I chose for its theatre program and improvisation teams. Not only do I like theatre, but I am skilful at acting.
I also am very talented in writing and very proud not to make spelling mistakes in French because this is something that really
bothers me when I find them in another’s text. What I mostly write is poetry, and there is rarely a defined structure.
My dilemma is that there are two main things I like, and I am endowed at both of them. I am not sure what to give priority
on anymore. For now, I think my passion for writing has exceeded my passion for acting, so I will probably study Literature
at university. Then, if I feel like acting again, I will audition in a theatre school, with more life experience in my backpack.
In fact, there are many experiences that have brought me to acting and writing. I was mostly a scientific person until
I started doing improvisation in my third year of hight school. I liked it very much, and this is the reason why I wanted
to take a theatre course in the following year. Then, at the beginning of the fifth year, my Literature teacher subscribed
the class to a writing contest. We had to write a ten-minute urban tale and two texts from the thousands sent by schools from
Montreal’s surroundings were chosen by Denise-Pelletier Theatre to be played by professional actors in the show Les
Zurbains 2005. My text was one of them. That is when I really gained confidence in my writings. At this moment, I am planning
to participate in the poetry section of Radio-Canada’s literary contest.
Finally, what I want to do for the
rest of my life may still not be clear, but I hope I will be able to live from my art, whatever it may be. I need to be in
a creative space, alone or with enthusiastic people. If I have this chance, this would make me a very complete and happy person.
